For the last two years Knockainey National School have been working hard in the hope of achieving their 4th green flag, whilst also maintaining the previous three flags of Litter and Waste, Water and Energy. This May we received word that not only had we been successful in keeping our previous three flags but we had also achieved the 4th green flag, the travel flag for our school. A wonderful achievement for all.
It had been a busy journey to achieve this flag, with transport surveys being carried out on a weekly basis, friendly banter over the Golden Boot on the yard as well as among the staff in the staffroom, wacky feet days, clothing collections, battery collections, Walk on Wednesdays, Spring Cleans, recycling competitions, road safety competitions, National Tree Day as well as many other initiatives. We started with only 31% travelling green to school and in Term 2 of this year we had 93% travelling green. A massive improvement. Well done to all.
On 21st of June we raised our 4th Green Flag. A great day was had by all. Here are some photographs of the official raising of our flag.
