Grandparent’s Day at Knockainey N.S

Knockainey National School

On Friday 23rd of February 2024 we celebrated Grandparent’s Day as part of Catholic Schools week.

Mass was held in Knockainey Church at 11am. We had the most beautiful ceremony to celebrate our Grandparents. Each class from the school attended the church where some of the children performed tin whistle led by Ms. Morris and Ms. Fitzgibbon. We also thank Ms. Morris for preparing the choir for the ceremony. They were fantastic as usual.

Throughout the week, each child worked on ‘candle holders’ to present to their grandparents. Furthermore, each child received a native Irish tree sapling to plant with their/in memory of their Grandparents.  We also understand that this is a difficult time for all who are remembering those whom they have lost, yet nice to cherish the memories.

Following Mass everyone was invited back to the school for some light refreshments. This gave an opportunity for our Grandparents to have a look around the school whilst reminiscing on many memories that they have had here themselves.

The tree of life was a popular spot for selfies and family photos. A picture that each family will cherish to have. We thank all those who attended and took part.
