We were delighted to be in school this year for Active Week 2021. Throughout the week all children took part in a wide range of activities. The children wore tracksuits every day and on Tuesday and Thursday they wore club and county colours to celebrate #National Cumann na mBunscol Week. Knockainey GAA presented new jerseys to the sixth class on Tuesday.
We welcomed School Fitness Ireland to the school for the first time and they did Zumba, Boxercise and Gymnastics with the children.
Pat O’Dea was here on Tuesday and the children enjoyed dancing the final pieces. We walked around the ring in our bubbles and took part in a Soccer Crossbar Challenge as well as a running challenge EMOM, where the children had to run/jog for a minute and then rest for a minute. We really enjoyed these activities and meeting new coaches.
Sixth class pupils participated in handball with John O’Connor and they really enjoyed this.
In our classrooms we did Active Week acrostic poems, posters, designed jerseys and active challenges. On Wednesday, two bouncy castles arrived which was a real novelty for all children.
Ms. Keane brought her snake to show the children, and this proved to be a great hit.
We wrapped up the week with Active Kids Ireland and Gers Mobile Farm arriving to our ‘School Tour’ Day.
